Engagement  Photography

FAQ's:

I don't technically have a set time for my engagement sessions - my goal is for us to go out and have a great time taking fun and relaxed photos.  If you're scrambling around trying to cram in as many photos as you can within a hour session you probably won't be that relaxed, right?  So no real need to keep looking at the time.  Most engagement sessions typically go 2-3 hour and don't need to go much longer than that.  And you absolutely have time for a outfit change!  I would typically say your really don't need more than 2 different looks/outfits, but I'm open to almost anything so please reach out and ask!

A:

What  is  the  turnaround  on  your  engagement images?    how  long  before  we  can  expect to  see  our  iMages?

A typical turnaround for engagement photos is 2-3 weeks.  I will also send periodic "teasers" as I'm editing engagement sessions as well.  If there is a rush to get "Save the Dates" out I can always edit 10 of my favorites and get them over to you first so that you can get your print order underway.

Q:

A:

should  we  expect  your  images  have watermarks  on  them?

Absolutely not.  Watermarks are a complete eye sore.  I'm not in the businesses of turning people's images into personal billboards for my business - your images will be sent over with no watermarks, logos or insignias unless you've otherwise requested it.

Q:

A:

how  long  are  your  engagement  sessions and  do  we  have  time  for  a  outfit  change?

Q:

A:

help!   what  should  we  wear?!?!

So I always say stick to these general rules and you'll be just fine.

1.  Pick either warm or cool colors and stick to colors in that realm - so either reds, yellows and oranges or blues, greens and purples.  Sprinkle in all the grays, blacks and whites as you'd like.

2.  Limit the amount of patterns.  Too many patterns not only make for very "busy" images but they also date a image.  Patterns are very trendy and can go out of style sometimes in a year or two, sticking to mostly solid colors with 1 or 2 patterns is probably best.

3.  Don't be afraid to get casual.  If you're bringing 2 outfits, consider bringing a dressy option as well as something a little more fun and casual, too.

Q:

A:

when  is  the  best  time  to  schedule  our shoot?

The best lighting for portraits is at dawn and dusk, so we'd recommend meeting up around 90 minutes before dusk.  Meeting around that time will give us plenty of beautiful natural light to work with and then we can end the shoot with some stunning portrait lighting right at dusk.

Q:

A:

will  you  also  edit  some  of  the  images  in black  &  white?

That really all depends on your preferences.  This is typically something I discuss with clients at a consultation so that I can get a idea for your interest level in Black & White photography.  If you do have interest in Black & White photographs that is something we can definitely incorporate into your finished images.

Q:

do  you  travel  for  weddings?

A:

I absolutely do!  I love to travel and my travel fees are very reasonable!  If I have to fly, rent a car or stay in a hotel we can discuss that ahead of time and will bill for that, but no other fees will be added beyond that.  For weddings I can drive to, I typically charge travel for those on a case-by-case basis and the fees are minimal.  A good rule of thumb is if you're venue is within a 1 hour drive (one way) then I am totally fine driving there and back with no additional fees.

Q:

A:

what  if  we  are  interested  in  prints  or  a custom  album?

All of our collections include the Print Rights to your images - giving you the right to print your own images however and whenever you'd like!  We want to be as flexible as possible so we give you those print rights so you have the right to print your memories on your own terms.  We do offer optional printing directly through your custom online gallery you receive when your images are finished, giving you and your loved ones the ability to print high quality prints and have them shipped directly to your home - easy!  As for albums, there are such a wide variety of options out there and we would be more than happy to schedule a consultation with you after your wedding to go over product lines, look at samples and begin the design process for you.  Albums are a beautiful way to experience on of the happiest days of your life and you will never regret investing in such a stunning physical format for your images.

Q:

A:

have  you  ever  photographed  our  venue before?

There's a decent chance that I have as I've photographed over 100 weddings all over Washington State.  If not, I do guarantee checking out a venue prior to your wedding day in order to get fully acquainted with the venue and the surrounding area.  If possible, I do enjoy doing a "walk-thru" with my couples prior to the wedding.  This is a fun way to explore the venue, discuss portrait locations, go through the ceremony set-up and really just discuss your guys' wedding and how we can make the day absolutely perfect for you.
